Another Vent, Sorry
Right, you know with college, school etc you often have to do group work, and there is usually someone who you won't get along with, or rubs everyone up the wrong way. Well, we have to work in groups of 3/4 and were assigned a topic for this 30minute presentation, and we have to keep a group record, and a personal record of what we have done, what tasks were assigned to each person and when they were completed. This is because, we all have to agree on the percentage of the total marks each person in the group gets due to contribution etc, which in my group's case is going to be an extremely long discussion. We have this one member, who argues with you about everything about how it should, this should be put in etc, and its driving me crazy as this often happens days after we last met to work on the project and we ALL agreed what we were going to do for that week, how it fits into the presentation etc. These meetings are for most of the day as well, and they never complained or argued that they didn;t understand etc then and argues, this is what we agreed on even if it goes against whats on the group record. And when ever you try and argue your perspective on it, they never seem to understand it, even if you out it in such simple terms that a 5yr old could get it. It just gets me sooo annoyed, because its a group work but they just want it to go their way all the time. But then, I'm guessing their arguing because they want equal distribution of marks for the presentation, as they know the other members of the group are going to want to make them have lower marks as they never turn up for lame excuses 'I booked myself another 2hrs in bed' or if they do turn up, they go after the first lecture to go and play tonsil tennis for the rest of the day, and we have to do the work on our own, and THEN has a go at us for assigning them a task they didn;t get to pick or didnl;t want to do. Not our fault, should have been there. And if they do turn up for the entire day, we have to literally drag them away from the computer or otherwise they just spend the entire time chatting on MSN or MySpace, and even if that works, it takes them 3hrs to do a piece of work that could of taken 45mins to an hour. Grr...I'm so stressed about the whole thing because mainly one person is stuck in the middle and is getting it from both sides. Really feel sorry for them. I'll be surprised if this presentation gets finished on time, or someone doesn't strangle the other. That, and this same person falsifies everything..registers (which once they got caught), contribution and effort (we have to keep them away from the group sheet, because we caught them just begining to falsify it) and all sorts. :x
