Do they know?
I was wondering about if you guys usually tell people you watch Buffy, or are you a closet Buffy fan? I tend to tell people right away, though they either laugh at me, or they say oh that's cool, even though I know they are making fun of me in their head.

all my friends know. and i mention it to most casual friends. i dont bring it up right away with people i just meet, and if its people im not to comfotable with i try to avoid it, but more resently ive been more open about it. i think its cause high school is nearing and end, im just like 'i dont give a sh!t anymore' haha

im a very open Buffy fan. All my co-workers make fun of me ACCEPT Sue, she is a fan of buffy as well. When i talk to her about stuff its like we are talking Japanese to the others when they are listing lol

I know what you mean TC...when I find someone that actually knows anything about Buffy, nobody else gets what we are talking about. I had someone say they were a huge fan of Buffy one time, and then they asked me if Dawn was still with that gay women _confused_ Yesterday at work (and this was actually what made me start this topic) someone asked me if I was still obsessed with Buffy, and I said yes (embarassed though I know there is nothing about Buffy I should be embarassed about, just the way people ask makes it seem like it's something I should be embarassed by). Anyway, he had actually watched Buffy and Angel the entire time they were on, so I was excited that there was someone I could actually talk to about it. But then I told him about all the Buffy things I have and when I told him I have a website he got freaked out. But then later he told someone else that we were talking about Buffy, and the guy was like "Dude I love that show" It was kind of cool, though very unexpected.

Haha, Steve - that must have been the most awkard thing to hear from a fellow fan! I love it too, when I meet someone else who is enthusiastic about Buffy/Angel as me - cos then it's like you have this whole OTHER world that you just talk with them about. I've been a closet fan for ages, only my family knew about how obsessed I was. But I've started telling or mentioning it to people a lot more now, particularly since one of my friends recently discovered Buffy and she keeps talking about it! :D My friends think my obsession is just like a funny quirk of me, so I don't get a hard time. But I rarely mention HOW obsessed I am about it....don't talk about having websites to it to other people. :roll: I'm in Australia and just started uni - and USYD has a Buffy club! I was so shocked :shock: but sadly, I don't go to USYD....I go to another uni NEAR it....UTS. :(

I don't go around shouting "WHOO! I LOVED BUFFY!" lol, but if the subject comes up I'll talk about it. Most people at college seem to like it anyway, so *shrugs* meh.

Yeah, I have a bad habit of telling people I have websites right away, and they think I'm a freak. One of my friends said she can't believe how often Buffy is brought up in her sociology classes (she's majoring in sociology/feminist studies). She said she never knew Buffy was more than just a girl who kills demons. Now she wants to watch it to see the metaphors in the show and stuff. Who knew college could be good for recruiting Buffy fans lol.:)

yeah, like i said, all my friends know, but i had to *ease them in* to it lol by the time i got to the vids and the web sites they already thought i was pretty adorable and quirky, like slaygal said :)

O I rarely tell people I do vids...not even my friends know. They think it's funny that I'm so obsessed though.

Lol. I haven't gotten to the sites, fanart stuff yet with my friends. Do you guys get that reaction where your friends just smile and shake their heads at you? :wink:

haha all the time :P my friend was telling me about her love life and i was like: me: RILEY/BUFFY/SPIKE her: AND IF YOU EVER COMPARE MY LIFE TO BUFFY AGAIN WE ARENT FRIENDS haha she is funny about it :P she makes jokes and rolls her eyes, but she does it in that loving, your-special sort of way :P hehehe

I forgot to mention that just about everyone in my high school knew I was a Buffy fan...I had one of my wallpapers in the art show, because I made it in photography class, and also when "Chosen" aired for the first time there had been a commercial on the radio we were listening to in class for it, and everyone just looked at me, probably expecting me to start jumping around the room or something. I know my entire face turned red though. Speaking on Buffy being on the radio...Mark Metcalf (the Master) lives here in Wisconsin, and owns a restaurant here too. He's always on this morning talk show here and it's so cool because they talk about Buffy sometimes.
