How old... and when... I was just wondering how old everyone was when they first started Buffy and/or Angel and when did they start watching???
I watched Buffy right from the beginning, the very night it premiered so ten years now I've been watching it. I was in fourth grade, so I must have been 9 (yeah that would make sense since I'm 19 now). I watched it on and off then in season 1, most of season 2, on and off again for seasons 3-5 and became a hardcore fan in season 6. Not sure why it took me so long to become obsessed with it. I guess it wasn't until then that I was old enough to understand that Buffy was a lot more than a girl who killed demons. Now I wouldn't give it up watching it for the world.
In terms of Angel, I watched some of the first season, but never really got into it, so only tuned in once in a while. I pretty much watched seasons 1 and 2 for the first time when they were released on DVD. When my Buffy obsession kicked in is when I also became obsessed with Angel too (so Angel was in it's third season). Again I was just too young to fully get the shows at the time.

I the first time I ever saw Buffy was during season four. It was the infamous Something Blue episode. I was probably around 10. I was at my grandma's house with my friend Keeley and it was so boring, and my grandma didn't have cable and we were both in the bedroom whinig that there was nothing good on tv since we couldn't watch Nickelodeon and then BAM. We see a blonde haired pale dude chained to a bathtub complaining that it was "telly time". And demons were chasing people (Xander and Anya) and our ADD preadolescent brains were entertained.
I didn't really watch it on TV ever after that though. Keeley had her parents buy the old seasons and we all started watching it. Her whole family got hooked and would have marathons together. I wasn't there all the time, so I watched it with them out of sequence on the weekends and missed a lot.
Then, I started buying the seasons and watching them on my own and became even more obsessed with Buffy than Keeley and her family were.
And that leads us to the present where I, the Buffy fanatic, scour eBay for Buffy action figures and merchandise, subsequently spending all my paychecks from work rather quickly.
.....I'm a dork. XD

I was shown it for the first time when I saw 12. It was late, I was sleeping over at my friend Fiona's house, and she showed me Welcome to the Hellmouth and the Harvest... but I was really really tired. I remembered being amused but I kinda didn't pay attention.
It was Amaya *points to her post* who kinda made me get into it. She brought Chaos Bleeds over to my house, put it on multiplayer (Bunny catcher I think?) and was all "Play as Willow! She's a nerd, and a spaz, and a lesbian, just like you!"
And then because I'm very musical obsessed she showed me OMWF about... oh... last March-y I think? And been obsessed ever since. I own most of the series (except season 1), and I'm now working my way through Angel.
Kinda sad.... only been a fan for about a year, but I'm very in love. Not AS obsessed as the girl in my dorm with the stakes and holy water (I swear to god... but she's also... not a great fan and actually insults most of the show.) It's like brain food for me. My parents make fun of it because it's about demons, they don't get that it's a metaphor for other things.
And it's because of Buffy that I met my girlfriend! We met for the first time when a bunch of us broke out into "I've Got A Theory" at a sci fi club meeting.

I was 25 when I first started watching (yeh I'm an oldie). I was off my work not well and was flicking through channels looking for something to watch when I tuned to Buffy and seen this hot guy (it was Angel) and I thought wow who is he?. The episode was School Hard from season 2. So I was kinda hooked from there.
I ended up watching season 2 on BBC 2 and Season 3 on Sky one at the same time. Then I went out and bought Season 1 as well. SO i ended up watching 3 seasons at the one time. I remember telling my boyfriend (now my husband) that he had to see this cool new programme and he was like I'm not watching something called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Needless to say he's as hooked on Buffy/Angel as me.
Watching Angel was just a natural progression for me. Now I'm into fanart and watching all the music vids that people post on the internet. Got myself about 9 cd's worth now.
I too am a sad person as I have all the series of Buffy and Angel, Buffy pyjamas, posters in my spare room, books and for my Christmas my husband bought me the cross that Angel gave Buffy.
But I don't care that I am now 34 years old and act like a teenager about Buffy ( no disrespect to teenagers) but it's not really the way a grown woman with a five year old son should be acting, but I don't care.
BUFFY RULES!
ps I also remember phoning up a tv station to complain that Buffy was delayed because bloody Wimbledon was on and they had postponed it. What can I say I needed my fix

I don't have nearly as much Buffy merchandise as I would like but when I first got to college I kinda got ridiculed for being too much of a fan, and I got picked on, and my parents pick on me too, so I never really had the guts to buy a lot of stuff. I want to though.

Cool tattoo.
I just spent $50 on Buffy comics, because they were on sale for 50% off, and I just couldn't pass them buy.
My family thinks I'm nuts too because of all the books, and other merchandise I have...including: video games, books, comics, trading cards, valentine cards (which I'll never give away), toy cars, action figures, posters, calendars, date books (which aren't written in), the entire series region 1 (plus sea. 2 and 3 in region 4 also), and I'm probably forgetting some things.
