Introduction To Photoshop...which way?
Ok, not sure if this is the right place to put this, so feel free to move it One of my friends has told he has downloaded Photoshop and it got me thinking: - Which do you think is the best method to be introduced to photoshop? Either: Diving in, without any real graphics knowledge or actually never really created graphics...i.e. an absolute beginner Or After gradually (and I mean gradually) starting off with lesser programs e.g. Paint, Serif etc, and working your way through the different program levels before getting and using Photoshop. Which did you do? Was it right, or do you feel that you should have started with an 'easier' program? Etc, Etc

I just dived right on in there. I'd noticed all the fanart there was on the internet...fancied giving it a bash. Some of the websites stated they used Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro..soo got myself a copy of both. Liked Photoshop the best. I was crap at art at school so I was a total beginner. I just borrowed books from the library and read the tutorials posted on websites on creating fanart. There are some really good tutorials out there. So i really just messed about with the programme seeing what it could do....and man I still don't know what I'm doing :D I did try using Paint but i though it was crap. Photoshop was soo much easier. I'm currently using Photoshop 7 and I know there are later versions but I tend to stick with what I know.

I did the exact same thing, just kind of played around with it to figure out how photoshop worked, and read tutorials people wrote. So I recommend just going at it, and read tutorials as you go along to help give you ideas of the types of things you can do.

i started on Paint Shop Pro 6. I dove into it. Then as i thought i was getting better (LOL) i went to Paint Shop Pro 8. Then I saw people were using Photoshop. So i got the la-*test*-('") one (at the time it was 7) and i use it still. But i just dove into that one too lol. But i read tutorials online and the rest is history!

Just me who didn't dive in then? Lol To be totally honest, not heard of Photoshop until I had almost out-grown another graphics program (in a list of many) - And I waited quite a while after I out grew it until I got Photoshop. - Sometimes its good to become stagnent or out-grow something because it means you have to use your brain more and figure out how to do something with various tools you have used before, which end up with an effect you can get easier on a more advanced program. If you got that, well done, lol As for when I got Photoshop, didn't use/read tutorials for absolutely ages and to be totally honest, I haven't read an awful lot of tutorials, although I probably should. Prefer to figure things out of my own, so thats probably the main reason I don't read tutorials and why I've only read the odd one. - In that sense, I guess I dived in, but after gradually going through various graphics programs, it wasn't that much of a degree.
